Belltown Martial Arts, led by Sifu David F. Leong carries on the tradition of Chinese Hung Kuen Kung-Fu.
As one of the most traditional Chinese Hung Kuen teachers in North America, Sifu Leong perpetuates the true philosphy of kung-fu and the livelong pursuit of patience, hard work, honesty, tradition, and respect to others. As a teacher, Sifu Leong has dedicated over 35 years to Hung Kuen Kung-Fu and it's teachings and passes this tradition to his students.
The physicality of martial arts constantly pushes Hung Kuen students to new levels of strength, flexibility, endurance, confidence, self-defense, and overall health. This training also results in one of the most symbolic cornerstones of Hung Kuen Kung Fu and Chinese culture -- the memorizing Chinese Lion Dance.
Traditionally performed by kung-fu practioners, the Chinese lion dance is a symbol of good luck, hope, happiness and celebration. Performed throughout the year for joyous events, the Chinese lion dance is most seen during Chinese New Year festivities. People from all over the world watch the lion dance in celebration of what is to come and delight in the sounds and beats of the drum.
Sifu David Leong and his students perform lion dance throughout the city of Seattle for organizations such as Benaroya Hall, Sheraton Hotel, Microsoft, retirement homes, weddings, elementary schools, grand openings, businesses and much more.
